No, I didn’t write this ahead of time and just scheduled it for nearly Saturday…I am just getting to doing Five Minute Friday. Here are the rules:
1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.
2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
3. And then absolutely, no ifs, ands or buts about it, you need to visit the person who linked up before you & encourage them in their comments. Seriously. That is, like, the rule. And the fun. And the heart of this community.
This Five Minute Friday’s word: View.
The view from here. But where is here? It is where we are right now? Is it where we will be in 5, 10, 20 years? Or will the view still be the same in any of those times in the future? God, I wish I knew. And no, that was not sarcastic. That is actually a petition to my Lord and Savior…God, I wish I knew if this is my view.
Why question it? Because we love knowing. We love being able to anticipate what’s coming up because that way we can plan for it and it won’t be as difficult or stressful.
But I didn’t get this view out my back door of a little girl playing happily with her dad while her loving dog sits next to them on the deck…this view of the grand Cascade Mountains from my bedroom window (okay, I can barely see them but I know they’re there)…this view down the street of the Olympic Mountains and Puget Sound lit up all colors of blue, purple, orange, and red at another spectacular Everett sunset…by planning.
No, I got to be the grateful recipient of these views by answering God’s whisper to follow Him.
Maybe the view will stay the same. Maybe it will change. All I know is that He is the architect of the best vistas and I will answer His whispers if only I am quiet enough to listen.
